Antoine Bootz & Ralph Pucci
Primal Mysteries
Pucci’s first standalone in-house collection in more than ten years. Primal Mysteries pay homage to the studio’s longstanding hero’s from the worlds of sculpture and painting: Giacometti, Brancusi, Miro, Paul Klee, Modigliani, Kirchner, Jean Arp, and also looks further back to their sources of inspiration, and the artistic expressions that have been intrinsic to myriad cultures since the dawn of humanity.
These works reveal the full talent and capabilities of the RALPH PUCCI (sculpture studio) from handwork in clay and plaster to casting and hand finishing, sometimes creating a sand blasted appearance. In order to impart desired texture and finishes. Some pieces like the Visage giant sconce, the sensational nearly 8 ft. light sculpture was sculpted in plaster. This plasterwork is more associated with some of the artists’ inspirations than contemporary manufacturing and allowed for even more texture when giant, revealing a feeling of being unearthed. Each piece shows the hand of its maker and evokes an earthy elemental character an antidote to our digitally led world.
