Eric Schmitt & Marjorie Salvaterra
For the first time in over four years, we unveil new work by the celebrated French artist Eric Schmitt. The exhibition, titled “In & Out,” relies on the research and time-honored traditions of artisans to push the limits of a given material, uniting the savoir-faire of aluminum and bronze founders with ceramicists and PUCCI’s own sculpture studio in one collection. “For the Plasterglass pieces we worked exactly as if it were bronze, even choosing a range of colors that is similar to patinas. One process is no more noble than the other.” Schmitt says.
In her new exhibition “Shine,” Marjorie’s photographs explore tensions between personal identity and societal demands, often with a surrealistic lens that adds a dose of humor to her cinematic portraits. Her new body of work suggests both individual and collective disillusionment, however, the artist’s message offers hope in the face of adversity. Marjorie expands her creative offering with the addition of Swarovski crystals applied to her photographs to illustrate the importance of resiliency. As Marjorie says, “When your world goes mad, ‘Shine.’”
