Hervé Van der Straeten & Christopher Makos
We are proud to announce a landmark exhibition of new works to celebrate the gallery’s 20th anniversary of collaboration with renowned French artist-designer Hervé Van der Straeten.
Ralph first met Hervé when the artist hand-delivered his portfolio to the New York gallery in 2005. He was immediately intrigued, recalling, “It was some of the most unique and original collection of ideas I had ever seen.”
An enduring partnership was born of a shared passion for design and the beauty of craftsmanship. We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone alongside Hervé, whose artistry is a testament to the lasting appeal of timeless, elegant, and original creations.
The exhibition at the New York gallery will showcase entirely new works and new editions of Van der Straeten’s most successful creations.
A series of silver gelatin prints by Christopher Makos are also on view. The new works portray Makos’ close friend Andy Warhol and document the duo’s creative adventures, from a portrait of Andy draped in an American flag in Spain, to an homage to Marcel Duchamp’s exploration of gender norms and identity.
