For his Libre show, Paul Mathieu’s new Libre Chair demonstrates the freedom of sculpture, combining naturally rich and sinuous curves with influences of the past. Created in the RALPH PUCCI (sculpture studio) in Manhattan with the fluidity of memory, the Libre Chair is inspired by the feelings of opportunity experienced by Mathieu when entering his late father’s workshop as a child. The exquisite craftsmanship and aesthetic austerity of the design highlight the elegant modernism of the RALPH PUCCI plasterglass.
Paul Mathieu says: “For me, the Libre Chair embodies the joy of freedom. The aim of the piece is to create the sense of being surrounded by those we love, to feel the weight of the world lifted from our shoulders. Watching my father work filled me with a sense of wonder and awe, and that is expressed in the feeling of the chair.”

Lighting designer and artist John Wigmore brings his new organic line of ceramic table lamps, sconces, and side tables to RALPH PUCCI New York for his Terrene show. Combining the warmth of handmade soft forms and the hard edges inspired by Mexican Architecture, the work also draws inspiration from the most influential forms in early modernist abstract paintings from the 1920s-30s. This new show pulls from a palette of natural textures and colors found in the earthen landscape to produce unique painterly works.
