RALPH PUCCI (los angeles) presents Passion, Aggression, Ignorance by Stefan Bishop, the first in-person show by the artist since he joined the gallery in 2020, Mirage, the inaugural collection of unique glass lighting sculptures crafted by French LA-based multi-media artist, Sébastien Léon, as well as a new exhibition Polyphony by Patrick Naggar.

Stefan Bishop’s latest exhibition is named after the three ‘poisons’ of Buddhist teachings which are traditionally rejected in favor of attaining equilibrium, however, the artist upends the doctrine by casting a more positive light on the so-called ills. Passion, Aggression, Ignorance are therefore transformed into the joy, physicality, and unencumbered expression he experiences during the creative process.

Sébastien Léon expertly applies a silver finish to each glass sculpture that conceals lighting at its core. When lit, the mirror effect retreats allowing the light to subtly permeate with a mesmerizing effect, and when unlit the sculptural surface takes on a reflective patina with traces of oxidation and bursts of color. Each piece is mounted upon a custom ceramic, wood, or cement pedestal, enhancing the individuality of each piece.

French artist, architect and designer Patrick Naggar has worked with RALPH PUCCI since 1995, and Polyphony pays tribute to decades of collaboration. The scenography includes bold new designs alongside important pieces from the artist’s incredible body of work. Naggar explores myth and science, ancient and modern cultures, and the function and symbolic, mixing materials to create designs that imbue an environment with narrative. His Strap collection continues this tradition with bold upholstery tempered by gently curved shapes, and new lighting that celebrates purity of form.
